This object can be done using its normal Javascript constructor, or by using the literal notation shorthand which has an added benefit of not having to additionally escape backslashes and other special metacharacters often used inregular expression patterns. Regular expressions allow you to check a string of characters like an e-mail address or password for patterns, to see so if they match the pattern defined by that regular expression and produce actionable information.
